31 Jan, 2010 We have Doodle eyes!!! The puppies opened their eyes this week and it really added to their cuteness and personality.
The puppies are becoming more adventurous each day. A few of them even think they are quite big and tough as they bark(yelp) to show just how tough they are. They are exploring more and more of the whelping box , the puppy swim crawl has been replaced with the four legged look how big I am stumble.
The individual personalities are begining to emerge more, we have some really fiesty ones (#4),
and somelaid back surfer dude personalities. (#7)
Ben is really enjoying this whole experience and is pretty amazing with the puppies. He knows what each individual puppy likes and dislikes at this point so far. His favorite would have to be puppy #6 he calls her the she-hulk, he also helped him clip the puppies nails for the first time today. He has a very calming influence on the puppies.
We are really enjoying each new step the doodles make and are excited for the really fun to beging now. Thanks,Drewdle

Doodles 1 week old

24 Jan. 2010 The Doodles are just over a week old now. They are growing at an incredible rate they have doubled in size and are becoming more adventurous. Their eyes should be opening any day now, we are all anxiously awaiting to see them with their eyes open.
I believe that based on their pigmitation that our doodles will be either Apricot/Creams or Caramels in color. Either color could have hazel or greenish gold eye coloring. A few of the pups are really starting to show the signs of a wavy/curly coat.
It is amazing to see the different personalities of each pup emerging and developing, the boys are having lots of fun doing the puppies Biosensory stimulation exercises, I'm not sure anyone should be allowed to have that much fun.
Since the puppies have been born we have noticed that the house has been alot quieter, we finally figured out that it is because Ben is spending so much time out in the whelping box with the pups. (He would sleep out there if we would let him.)

The Doodles Day 4

18 Jan., 2010
Everyone is settling in nicely. Diana is becoming an excellent mom. She has done really well with everyone being so excited to see her pups. I think she is more patient than quite a few humans I know.
Jon and Emily and their kids came over on Friday Jan. 15th. They are so excited that the puppies are here. Jake likes the youngest boy or the oldest girl for their families choice. They all decided to wait a few weeks before they make their selection. I was very proud of Jacob on Friday, he took a big step and was very confident and calm with Diana and the puppies. Best of all he had NO Alergic reactiones.
The puppies have had a busy few days, they had their dew claws removed and their first Vet check.(Everyone thought they were adorable!!) On sunday Nick and Ben started the puppies Biosensory stimulation exercises. These will continue everyday until the puppies go home with their new families. The Biosensory stimulation will help make the puppies more well rounded, healthy and be able to deal with stress better throughout their lives.
We will let you know how everything is going in a day or two.
Thanks, Drewdle

DIANA'S PUPPIES

14 Jan., 2010 Our puppies are here at last. Our precious Labradoodle puppies arrived this morning, starting at a little after 3 am. I missed the first girl being born and Diana took care of everything just like she should have. The following 6 arrivals were a different story, she became confused and a little disoriented once I came out to help her. I was very grateful that I had done my homework on what to do if she didn't care for them. It was very chaotic for about 2hrs as 5 of the puppies came fairly close together. After the first 5 we had about an hour break before the final 2 arrived.
I think it is ironic that my Sunday school lesson this week is on the beauty of the creation. I gained a greater appreciation for God's power and wisdom as I watched our sweet Diana struggle with learning to be a mom. It truly was a miracle as she gained confidence and the maternal instinct took over.
I am truly grateful for the beauty and wonder of life. What a joy it has been to see my own children's excitement and joy throughout this day. Please join us as we take this wonderful journey down life's path. Thanks, Drewdle

Our Little Mama

A well deserved break in front of the fire.

A little to the left please!!!!!
5 Jan, 2010

Diana is duing great, approximately 8 days to go before the Big Day. Everyone is getting excited, including Bethany though she would never admit it. Diana's appetite is increasing daily and so is her desire for affection/attention. I built a fire tonight and shecurled up in front of it and watched the Fiesta Bowl with me. She was content to lay there as long as I would pet her or rest my hand on her.

Our son Ben is driving us a little crazy trying to quess what colors the puppies will be. He is hoping and praying that there is a white one for is cousin Jake, after that he doesn't really care though he thinks it would be cool if there were some parti-colored ones. Ben is the most excited and interested because he wants to be a Vet when he grows up.

I am going to take Diana to the shop with me tomorrow try and change her routine a little bit, we will let you know how that goes.

Thanks,

Drewdle

MOM & DAD

Let me introduce our favorite 2 Dogs; Scout is our Yellow Lab, he is all Lab and all boy. He loves the water and to wrestle and play tug-of-war, but his true joy and passion is playing ball. He loves playing ball so much that if someone is not out there playing with him, he will toss the ball up in the air and play by himself for hours.
Diana is our Apricot Standard Poodle, where Scout is all boy, Diana is all girl(Princess), she is the most gentle, docile, sweet dog that I have ever met. She prefers to be near us as much as she can. She will come and sit right in front of you and pose as if she is saying, "Tell me how beautiful I am." She is a giant cuddlebug, she is a favorite of the foster children in our home as well as the day care kids. She seems to have a calming , soothing effect on the kids. They love to stroke and pet her velvety soft fur and as long as they want to give her attention she will take it.

I took Diana to the vet on 12/31/09. She has gained 11 pounds in the 2 weeks since her last visit.
The vet did quite a few tests to make sure all is well.(She passed with flying colors)She also did x-rays and an ultrasound. (See copy below) She verified 5 puppy heartbeats, but she believes that Diana is carrying 8-9 puppies. Her due date is Jan 13th so we will find out. We have moved Diana into her whelping box at night and at various times during the day so that she feels safe and secure for the blessed event. Please join our family as we take this new and exciting journey.
Thanks, Drewdle
